History of Southcott Pty. Ltd.

Southcott Pty Limited was founded in Adelaide, South Australia in 1886 as a general engineering business by two brothers, James and Albert Southcott. Over a century later, the company remains entirely owned by the Southcott family and has expanded extensively around the original factory site, as well as operating Australia wide sales offices and service centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Newcastle, Devonport, Emerald and Perth.

Involvement in hydraulics began in 1954 with the design and development of axial piston pumps and motors. The Company remains the only Australian manufacturer of these complex units. State of the art facilities are now provided for hydraulic equipment manufacture, including complex manifold circuits and a wide range of hose coupling swaging machines up to 500 tonne capacity.

Southcott Cycle Division ceased the production of bicycles in the mid nineties due to economic climax and turned their focus on marketing and selling state of the art international brands. Southcott Cycle division now operates from two main distribution warehouses, Adelaide and Melbourne, supplying bicycles and parts and accessories to the independent bicycle shops across Australia.

We offer a complete line of bicycle bags, from small saddle bags to large transport bags for  bicycles.  We select only good quality material for our bags.  New designs and improvements are added all the time.  Experienced workers ensure that our products keep up with the ever changing requirement of the bicycle world.  We also accept a request from our customers for custom design bags.

Our first priority is to give our customers the best service.  Each customer comes with a different requirement.  Each may require own packaging system, different header cards and leaflets.  Some request special carton sizes to comply with their logistics system. We accommodate these requests while keeping within a limit of their budget.

Ron D Swan makes canvas bags and cycling wear from reclaimed and/or low environmental impact materials. We design, manufacture, market and distribute these products in Australia, and always consider the 5 R's: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle.

Ron D Swan is based in Castlemaine, Central Victoria, Australia.

Ron D* Swan is a tyre swan working out of a small factory in Castlemaine. Being of reused material himself, he's had a lifelong obsession to creatively use materials that other people throw away. He sources such things as pvc banners, plastic sign boards, canvas offcuts, bicycle tubes and stainless steel spokes. Whenever possible he uses these materials in his products and repeats to himself; "Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle"
